The story behind
Irish coffee is much more than just a drink; it's a warm hug on a cold day. I love the visual and temperature contrast between the dark coffee and the thick white cream, just as seen in this perfect presentation. The chocolate shavings on top give it that final touch of elegance that makes it feel like a true homemade luxury.
Instructions
-
1Pre-warm a glass mug with hot water, then discard the water to keep the drink at the right temperature.
-
2Pour the brown sugar and Irish whiskey into the warm glass, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
-
3Add the freshly brewed hot coffee, leaving space at the top for the cream.
-
4Lightly whip the cream; it should be thick but still pourable (not stiff peaks).
-
5Gently pour the cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the coffee, creating a defined layer as in the image.
-
6Garnish with grated chocolate shavings over the whipped cream.
