The story behind
Hey! Let me share that the first time I made these Pide was for a get-together with my best friends, and they were an instant hit. I just love the boat shape; it’s so unique! This is a traditional Turkish recipe you’d find on almost every street corner there. I usually whip these up for a chill weekend dinner, paired with a fresh cucumber salad and a cold beer or iced tea. The best part is you can just grab them with your hands while having a great conversation.
Instructions
-
1In a pan, sauté the onion, bell pepper, and meat until the meat is browned.
-
2Stir in the tomatoes, paste, and spices. Cook for another 5 minutes and let it cool slightly.
-
3Divide the dough into 4 pieces and roll each into an oval shape.
-
4Place the filling in the center and fold the edges inward, pinching the ends to form the 'boat'.
-
5Bake at 200°C (400°F) for about 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
-
6Brush the edges with a little butter right out of the oven and serve hot.
