The story behind
Hey! I'm so excited for you to try Mantı. I remember being told that in Turkey, the smaller the dumplings, the more special the guest is! This recipe has been passed down for generations and is the ultimate comfort food. It’s perfect for a long weekend lunch or a cozy dinner. I personally love pairing it with a glass of Ayran or just a hot cup of tea. It takes a bit of patience to fold them, but honestly, that first bite makes it all worth it. It’s like a little piece of Istanbul on your plate!
Instructions
-
1Mix flour, eggs, and a bit of water to form a stiff dough; let it rest for 30 minutes.
-
2For the filling, mix the ground meat with the grated onion, salt, and pepper.
-
3Roll out the dough very thin and cut it into tiny squares (about 1 inch).
-
4Place a small pinch of filling in the center of each square and pinch the corners together at the top.
-
5Boil the manti in salted water until they float and are cooked through.
-
6Mix the yogurt with garlic for the sauce, and separately melt the butter with paprika until foaming.
-
7Plate the hot dumplings, spoon the yogurt sauce over them, and finish with a drizzle of the red butter and some dried mint.
