The story behind
The secret to a great chocolate muffin lies in the contrasts: the soft crumb against the crunch of chocolate chunks found in every bite. This recipe seeks that artisanal bakery aesthetic, where melted chocolate and solid fragments around it create a visually irresistible and deeply homemade experience.
Instructions
-
1Preheat the oven to 190Β°C and line a muffin tin with brown paper liners.
-
2In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, sugar, and baking powder.
-
3In another bowl, whisk the egg with the milk and oil until combined.
-
4Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix to keep the muffin texture.
-
5Fold half of the chocolate chunks into the batter.
-
6Divide the batter into the liners and place the remaining chocolate chunks on top of each muffin to achieve the look from the image.
-
7Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
-
8Let cool on a rustic wooden board and scatter extra chocolate shards around for presentation.
