The story behind
Buñuelos are a hallmark of celebration, especially during the holiday season in Mexico. As seen in the image, these golden discs are traditionally served on colorful textiles and accompanied by cinnamon sticks for aroma. The secret to their texture is stretching the dough until it's almost transparent before frying, achieving that perfect crunch that melts in your mouth.
Instructions
-
1Mix flour, salt, egg, and butter. Gradually add the cinnamon water until an elastic dough forms.
-
2Let the dough rest, covered, for 30 minutes.
-
3Form small balls and stretch them with a rolling pin until paper-thin.
-
4Fry in very hot oil until golden and crispy on both sides.
-
5Drain excess oil and immediately toss in cinnamon sugar as shown in the photo.
