Traditional Pear Flaugnarde

The story behind

Flaugnarde is the variation of clafoutis made with fruits other than cherries. In the image, a rustic and comforting version is shown prepared in a cast iron skillet. The thinly sliced pears are arranged in a circular pattern, peeking through a golden, soft batter. The powdered sugar dusted on top and the dark wooden background enhance its artisanal, homemade aesthetic.

Instructions

  1. 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and generously grease a skillet or baking dish with butter.
  2. 2
Whisk the eggs and sugar until frothy, then gradually add the flour.
  3. 3
Slowly pour in the milk and vanilla, mixing until you have a smooth, thin batter.
  4. 4
Arrange the pear slices in the skillet in a circular pattern as shown in the photo.
  5. 5
Pour the batter over the fruit and bake for 30-35 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
