The story behind
This snack stands out for its rough and extremely crunchy outer texture, served on a rustic wooden board. The contrast between the heat of the green chili and the smooth cheese filling makes them a favorite at any gathering. This version uses a panko coating to achieve that professional, crispy finish shown in the photo.
Instructions
-
1Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and veins (wear gloves).
-
2Mix the cream cheese with the shredded cheddar and a bit of garlic powder.
-
3Fill each chili half with the cheese mixture without overfilling.
-
4Dredge each chili first in flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally in the panko, pressing firmly so it adheres.
-
5For a thicker breading, repeat the egg and panko step.
-
6Fry in hot oil until golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
-
7Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
