Apple and Almond Blondies

The story behind

Unlike chocolate brownies, blondies (or 'blonde brownies') rely on brown sugar for their characteristic butterscotch flavor. As seen in the image, this version incorporates apple chunks into the batter for incredible moisture, while toasted sliced almonds on top provide a crunchy texture that perfectly contrasts the soft interior. It is the ideal dessert for those who prefer warm, fruity flavors.

Instructions

  1. 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a square baking pan.
  2. 2
Mix the melted butter and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. 3
Add the egg and vanilla, beating until smooth.
  4. 4
Stir in the flour and cinnamon until just combined.
  5. 5
Gently fold the apple chunks into the batter.
  6. 6
Pour into the prepared pan, sprinkle the almonds on top, and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. 7
Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares as shown in the photo.
