The story behind
Hi there! I'm so excited to share this one with you. Interestingly, the Neapolitan Milanesa is actually an Argentine invention from the 1940s. Legend says that at a restaurant called 'Napoli' in Buenos Aires, a chef accidentally overcooked a milanesa and tried to fix it by covering it with cheese and tomato sauce... and this masterpiece was born! To me, it's the ultimate Saturday lunch. I love pairing it with extra crispy french fries or a fresh green salad. For drinks, a young red wine or a cold sparkling water works perfectly. It's that kind of dish that makes you feel right at home, no matter where you are.
Instructions
-
1Dip the beef steaks into the beaten egg and then coat them thoroughly with breadcrumbs, pressing down so the breading sticks well.
-
2Fry the milanesas in hot oil until they are perfectly golden and crispy. Remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
-
3Place the milanesas on a baking sheet. Top each one with a slice of ham, a generous spoonful of tomato sauce, and the mozzarella cheese.
-
4Put them in a hot oven or under the broiler just until the cheese is completely melted and bubbly.
-
5Serve immediately with a sprinkle of fresh parsley on top and lemon wedges on the side, just like in your picture.
